Inge's experience with Peace Child

Hi, I'm Inge from Belgium and I stayed with Peace Child Sierra Leone for six months. The most special and beautiful months of my life! The people of Sierra Leone are so nice and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Though the country has suffered an awful civil war that destroyed most of its infrastructure, the culture and nature of the country make everything worth going.

And of course it is a great experience for everybody who wants to grow as a person and work for an NGO in a Third World Country. The organisation consists of young and motivated local people; which makes it a very relaxed and joyful atmosphere to work in. Before I went there, I hardly knew anything about the common going of development work , but they taught me so much on project writing; advocacy and lobbying; preparation and implementation of projects on several subjects - such as human rights, agriculture and health - and many other things which gave me a huge and extensive baggage and motivated me even more to continue the work I was doing. Even now I am trying to establish a Youth Training and Information Centre in Freetown, together with the people of Peace Child.
